Where do people go for their holidays? Most go to the beach, the countryside or the forest... and why? Because they relax, enjoy the fresh air and "get away from it all" What's the it that they need to get away from? Work, worry, stress, traffic, pressure, and routines that are repetitive and monotonous, unproductive.
So, I suggest that you go to nature and bring home the lifestyle. I went to nature, observed people and how they thrive in nature and bought back the secrets of a country holiday and applied them to everyday life. These are a few of the skills I now share with busy people:

The joy of a Himalayan trip lies in the capacity to adapt. Adaptation is a Nepali skill, one that everyone can learn, apply and use.
Many people love Nepal but can easily miss the golden gifts that Nepal travel can add to scenery and adventure. The measure of time, the light footsteps and the sense of community are just a few.
Nepal has been impacted by tourism and most of that impact is great. Schools, health care and education. However, the true nature of Nepali culture has not changed if you measure it by the religious devotion of both Hindu and Buddhist Nepali people.
Enjoy your journey

On my recent trip to Nepal, high in the mountains in Namche Bazaar we stayed at Camp De Base lodge, where, just a week or so before, an amazing man had spent time on his way up, and then down, from the summit of Mount Everest.
He's devoted to love - and his work seems to be contageous.
I suspect that a lot of his wonderful energy rubbed off on us as we shared the lodge he'd stayed in.
He had certainly affected the owners of the lodge in a very deep way.
It's well understood in the world of Innerwealth, that our energy sticks to walls, is contained in the work we do, the words we say, our thoughts and the things we give.
The amazing gift this guy brings the world are love and peace. Two things we, and the world could all do well with more of.
His amazing 27 hours of meditation on the Summit of Mt Everest is astonishing, without Oxygen.... go figure? But the best way to comprehend this feat is to read about it from the hands of a highly respected local sherpa man who has summitted many times, along with his team.
Here's the link... and wishing you, Love and Peace...

Well the 2011 Summer trip to Nepal is complete. Everybody is home safe.
Congratulations to Todd and Michele for their amazing journey.
Sometimes on this trip I'd forget that this trekking in Nepal was such familiar territory to me and so new to Todd and Michele.
It's a rare environment for city folk, we try to make light of the bush toilets, the consistent and rather unvaried food, but for most people it's tough to change so quick.
I hope you take inspiration from this, from Todd and Michele's courage, their enthusiasm and their passion.
With Spirit
Chris

Hello Family and Friends,
Today we were again in Namche. Todd was feeling a bit sick in the tummy so stayed at the lodge, however Michele, Chris and Dawa walked to Thamo to visit the Nuns at the Monastery.
We have uploaded new pictures in the top right of the day trip. The Monastery has been under construction for many many years and is still being completed. (imagine the Nuns carrying all that building material!! Very impressive ladies!)
Whilst at the Monastery, we were fortunate enough to be invited for lunch. The food was delicious and plentiful! (they kept bringing more and more and more and it is impolite to refuse!!)
We then went and gave the Nuns our gifts. The day was a double blessing - meeting these beautiful people and also receiving their blessings. The second in charge Monk blessed Michele, Chris and Dawa, and also blessed items to give to Todd on their return.
Tomorrow we are starting our two day trek back towards Lukla for our flight to Kathmandu on Thursday.
Love
Michele and Todd

Hello Family and Friends,
Arrived safely back to Namche from Khumjung today after we walked via the Everest View Hotel to have one last look at her and have morning tea before making our way down.
We have uploaded a few pictures of the last couple of days to the gallery in the top right hand corner - hope you enjoy! The picture of Everest with her halo is our favourite and the picture does not do it justice!!
Today we went to the medicine man (again) and had massages since we were in town! Very relaxing and enjoyable!!
Thamo tomorrow to visit the Nuns and planning on taking them something special.
Love

Hello Family and Friends,
Yesterday we were woken early at our fantastic lodge in Deboche by our Sherpa Dawa as the sky had cleared over night and we had clear views to Everest and the surrounding peaks. It was a lovely sight and Everest had a cloud halo. (pictures to come!)
We then had breakfast and walked up to Pangboche where we went to the top of the hill where the local school is to reach exactly 4000m!(a new record for us) and more lovely views of Mount Everest.
From Pangboche we then walked along the cliffs to Phorse where we stayed the night and enjoyed lovely food and played cards with the locals.
Today we walked about 4 hours up to Khumjung and visited the local Hospital and School which were both built by Hillary. The school infact is celebrating this year 50 years!
Tomorrow we will head back to Namche for a rest day before attempting Thamo again and heading back down to Phakding and Lukla for our trip back to Kathmandu.
Love
Michele and Todd

Have you ever been fishing but cannot eat fish? Have you ever been to a great party but can't drink alcohol? Have you ever steak house but can't eat meat? We'll if so, you'll know what it feels like to be in the Himalayas and not walk. There are no car parks in the Himalayas, for good reason: people walk everywhere. While my back repairs, I'm stuck unable to walk far.
It's an eight kilometer walk over rough ground and steep ascent to the nearest hospital for women to give birth. To visit the nearest monastery it's 30 minutes up a bumpy trail. Nothing while your legs are functional, but, not so easy when they're not.
But I don't teach people to bemoan what they can't do, instead to focus on what they can. I've had time to be with friends, opportunities to work with local communities, help raise a few dollars for the local healing centre and enjoy some amazing sunrises. And for the group up here with me they've been able to pick and choose their lodges, make close friends with Sherpa families and take complete control of their own journey.
It's never about what we want in life, it's about what we need, and trusting this helps us all remain positive, thankful and inspired, no matter what the circumstance. So, being in the Himalayas and not walking isn't as bad as it sounds. Neither is being at a party without drinking, or a steak house without steak.

Amji (Tibetan doctor) gave treatments to Todd and Michele before they set off toward Everest. He's the most wonderful soul and an amazing healer.. I'm sure Michele will share the details of the best therapeutic massage of her life

Hello Family and Friends,
All well here - internet very slow, and no mobile coverage tonight! We might have mobile coverage again tomorrow - don't worry if we are not replying to texts at the moment!
Last night we both went to the Tibetan Medicine Man, and both had a diagnosis and Michele had a massage as well. Todd came back with little black pills to take for the next 20 days!
Today we walked from Namche Bazar up to Tengboche and visited the Monastery before arriving at our lovely lodge in Deboche for the night. The hosts are fantastic and we feel like part of the family!
Missing everyone and thank you for the lovely comments - we miss you all too and keep them up!!
Love

The picture at the top of the blog page is the exact view Todd and Michele got today from Tengboche monastery before heading down to deboche for the night. They are happy, strong and inspired. Tomorrow they go to Pangboche before turning south to Phortse. You can look these places up on google maps and see their progress.
Unfortunately, me as the trek leader have had to relinquish that role due to severe back problem and I'm stuck in namche bazaaar. My guide, Dawa Nuru Sherpa who has guided most of my last 20 trips and thousands of others with western trekkers has taken over the reins until I can either catch up or meet the group back here. Bit of a nuisance but were here and safe.

Hello to Family and Friends,
We are now on Day 3 of our trip and are staying our second night in Namche Bazar.
Today instead of going to the Monastery, we went for a short (ie 5 hour) walk up past the air strip and to the Mount Everest View Hotel.
As you can see from the picture in the gallery, it was not really the day for viewing Everest!!! A few pots of tea and biscuits could not get her to show her face so it was back down the hill!
Tomorrow we are heading to Tengboche - hopefully being Day 4 we will have really found our stride and can focus on soaking up the unbelievable beauty around us.
Hopefully tonight we will get to see the Tibetan medicine man - he has been out of town all day though so fingers crossed!
Love and kisses xx
Michele and Todd
