Have you ever wondered why people give up on the promises and commitments they make? Well, in human nature, it's absolutely understandable.
Anything we say we've "Got to do" or "Got to not do" we can't sustain. A "got to" head space is like wind always blowing from the East. Got to go one way automatically presumes there's no West but there is.
All stress comes from GOT TO thinking, desperation. Not far behind it is SHOULD thinking. When people say "should" and "shouldn't" they're committing an understandable error in motivation.
GOT TO and SHOULD DO are motivations which feel, on the surface like they're going to guarantee the elimination of some issue, overcome some problem or solve a situation. Sadly however, those words in one direction guarantee their opposite.
Here's an article written from a Psychological headspace that gives some intellect to what is nature's universal law. http://www.psychologicalscience.org/onlyhuman/2010/03/willingness-to-wonder.cfm
