Here is a Tibet/Nepal trek for those who want to share the journey with a partner or family members. It's only up to 4,000 meters, is in one of the most majestic areas of Tibet/nepal, rich in culture, antiquity, people and Himalayan scenery, yet, not so physically challenging as the Khumbu trek.
Most of the journey of 12 days is done using comfortable tents. We have our own cooks, food supplies are local and we'll be in the beauty of an outdoor paradise surrounded by amazing views, inspirational temples and local culture.
It's remote, yet, easy access. It's fun, a photographers dream (look up Mustang) on flickr, and relaxing. Walking difficulty includes rough paths, some slow ascents of hills but overall, it's a joyful and outdoor paradise.
I have booked a group of eight people, you and your partner, family can be one of them.
Cost estimates ex Kathmandu all inclusive are
1 person US$4500
2 people US$4000 each
Bookings are now open for August/September 2010.
Please note this journey also includes Muktinath, a very special and sacred place.
See Below.
Mustang has a long, rich and complex history that makes it one of the most interesting places in Nepal. The early history of Lo is shrouded in legend, myth and mystery, but there are records of events in Lo as early as the 8th century. It is quite likely that the Tibetan poet Milarepa, who lived from 1040 to 1123, visited Lo.
Upper Mustang was once part of Ngari, a name for far western Tibet.
The ancestry of the present Mustang Raja can be traced 25 generations back.
In Mustang the countryside is similar to the Tibetan plateau with its endless expanses of yellow and grey-rolling hills eroded by the wind. There is more rain in the lower part of upper Mustang and the hills tend to be great red fluted cliffs of tiny round stones cemented together by mud. Villages are several hours apart and appear in the distance almost as mirages, during the summer season. After the crops are planted, they are green oases in the desert-like landscape.
